I am very pleased to inform you that, ENT Foundation Bangladesh is going to organize a round table seminar and a free ENT and Hearing screening camp at the premises of ENT and Head-Neck Cancer Hospital & Institute, Agargoan (a non-profit hospital run by ENT foundation Bangladesh) on 3rd March 2014 to observe the International Ear Care Day 2014.

ENT Foundation Bangladesh, was formed in the year 2004, by a group of philanthropist social workers, doctors and other professionals, led by late Prof. M Alauddin, with a view to improve the treatment facilities of the common people of Bangladesh, who are suffering from ENT and Head-Neck diseases. The foundation is now running a-32-bedded hospital at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Agargoan.

Besides head-neck cancers, the main ENT disease causing morbidity is hearing loss. WHO estimates that there are 360 million persons in the world with disabling hearing loss (5.3% of the world’s population). At least half of all cases of hearing loss are avoidable through primary prevention, including healthy ear care practices. The theme of this year’s International Ear Care Day is Ear care can avoid hearing loss.

A key note speech will be presented at the seminar and a detail discussion will be held about the current situation and policies. Professionals from different sectors like doctors, audiologists, NGOs working with deaf, WHO representative, and related fields are expected to participate in the seminar.

I will be highly glad, if you participate the seminar and give your valuable opinion regarding the problem.

With regards,

Prof. Jahanara Alauddin,

Secretary General, ENT Foundation Bangladesh.
